Assignment 5-1

Assignment 5-1
Football, football, football, that is all I am hearing about in my house for the past three weeks. Everyone across the United States has been sitting on pins and needles waiting to see about what is going to happen with the season.
The salary cap issue has been a big one, the final out is; per team 120 million with the stipulation that the team can take 3 million for one player and act like it is not there. Here are some teams that are over the 120 million cap are; Dallas Cowboys, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers (GO STEELERS), Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, and Green Bay Packers (sports.espn.go.com).
We have been waiting for what feels like forever for the postseason to start. I don’t know about everyone but Sunday football is big deal in our house, there is the shopping to be done during the week and then a whole bunch of tail gating on Sunday, nothing like a football party to make it fun.
There has been so much controversy going on with during the off season concerning the lockout. Some of the teams have been working together and making sure that they are getting in some training. I know as a fan I am ready for some FOOTBALL!
GO STEELERS!!

Assignment 1-3 blog

My article was Holodeck Masquing: Early Modern Genre Meets Star Trek. Masquing is a dramatic entertainment for the 16th & 17 centuries. It was written fir and preformed by nobility.  It was outlawed and stopped.
Star Trek brought it back with their holodeck. The holodeck was a computer simulation and the crew would be one of the characters in the scenarios. Their actions and reactions decided how the scenarios would turn out.
Most of the time the holodeck was used as a teaching tool, but being one of the many viewers I know that the crew would also use the holodeck took relax and take leave in a simulation that they had the computer make for them.
I need a computer that can make me things like that.
Please find the link to my article on the bulletin board.

Assignment 4-1

Nike, I love this brand and the value that comes with it.

They came out with the swoosh design in 1971 created by Carolyn Davidson to help the shoe stand out. When you hear Just Do It, what do you think of? NIKE of course, what else, they came up with this logo in 1988, twenty-three years ago.

You say Nike and everyone I mean everyone knows what brand you are talking about. Nike is known for its great brand quality, comfort, and unfortunately the price. I believe that you get what you pay for. A pair of Nikes can last me for at least a year if not longer.

Nike offers all different kinds of shoes from the traditional white leather high top to Air Jordan. They come in all shapes and crazy colors.

I just seen a commercial yesterday for this seasons new look, one of them was like a watermelon with a white swoosh.

Nike has grown so much since 1964, they make shoes for any occasion; regular wear, running, wrestling, cleats for football, baseball and golf, and while doing this research I found a purple high heel

not my style but I’m sure it is somebody’s style.

Nike has also started to do a clothes line for active wear; work out outfits, golf shirts, tennis and golf skirts and more. They sell nationally and are very profitable. They have found a customer for life in me with the Nike Shocks they are so comfortable.

Weekly analysis assignment 3-1

Weekly analysis 3-1
Pit Bulls, what do you think about them and the laws that are in effect for them?
To be fair I will start of by saying I have a Pit Bull, Husky mix, his name is Eli and my boyfriend adopted him 4 years ago. When I first meet him everything I have ever heard about Pit Bulls came right to mind, they are dangerous, mean, can turn on you in a minute, and once the jaw closes you will have a hard time getting it to let go. Eli is the biggest baby in the world and he thinks he is a 65 pound lap dog, he is a lover of everyone, and we both took to each right away. He is great with our other dogs; a 13 year old Rottweiler, 3 year old Boxer, and a 1 year Mini-Pin who follows him around everywhere.

Ohio has passed a law banning Pit Bulls or dogs that resemble a Pit Bull. There are 24 counties in Ohio that have banned Pit Bulls all together, 3 counties have proposed a ban that has not passed yet, and another 33 counties have no ban but have additional restrictions beyond the State Law (http://www.pittiesplace.com/BSLinOhio.htm).

I have a friend that had 2 Pit Bulls and had to jump through hoops for the county she lived in to have them, additional home owners insurance, signs posted in the yard and the house, and a mussel on the dogs when she takes them for a walk.

I lived in Akron, OH before I moved to WV, and for my boyfriend to bring Eli up, we had to do things I felt were crazy since he lived in WV not OH and was just visiting. I had to get more home owners insurance and Eli had to be in a fenced in yard and on a leash at all times when outside the house.

According to pittiesplace.com, they are a good breed but a lot work, they are very responsive to training and eager to learn. They can be a handful so you want to have experience being a dog owner before getting a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls are very loving and affectionate dogs that love to cuddle and have human contact.
This is Eli and Pete

Assignment 2-1

My analysis is on an ad I seen in the SELF magazine, on page 4 this is a two page for the Chevrolet Traverse.

The main focus of the ad is the front seat area of the crossover. So I am busy checking out the nice control area right in between the driver and passenger seats you have the radio with all the lights, display screen, buttons, and knobs. Of course it is bright and colorful and pulls in your attention. Then you have the nice leather steering wheel, with all it controls, so you don’t have to reach across to the middle of the crossover to change the radio station or turn it up and down, it also has your curse control, you can work the headlights high beam and low beams there as well. The best is the phone function buttons on the steering wheel, you can make a call turn it up and down and hang up when done. Of course they focus in on the driver door as well showing you all the controls there for your windows, locks, and mirror movements. This picture of the front seat area is so big and dominating of the ad you can see what all the buttons do. You really get a feeling of how roomy it is in the front of the crossover.

Then you notice that it is parked overlooking a bay somewhere. There are cliffs off to the right and sail boats out on the water. It looks very peaceful and quite, you could probably sit there for hours just watching everything and being relaxed.

Then you actually read the ad “There are great views from the second and third rows too”, and you realize that the ad is for the size and comfort of the vehicle. They focus almost the whole ad on the front area of the crossover how roomy it is, all the easily accessible functions and controls, you don’t even think about the back space, only to find out after reading the add that hey there is plenty more room behind this area and it is just as comfortable and nice as the front.

Of course they also note that it seats 8 comfortably, get 25 MPG, and has 30% more cargo space than other crossovers, in small print in the top right corner of the ad, it was the last section I looked at and read.

All information for this analysis was for SELF, the May 2011 issue.

Icon analysis Assignment 2-2

Icon analysis
Icon one, Drop Dead Diva a lifetime TV show that goes through the life of a women that was a model (Deb), she had a car accident, died and went to Haven, while talking to her Angel she hit the return key on the computer to come back, only she came back into the body of a female lawyer (Jane) with very a little social life, and who is overweight. Icon two, NCSI a murder mystery TV show, all the cases are involved in some way to the Armed Forces. A group of four investigators, one scientific genius, two coroners, and one boss solve the cases and put the killers away. Icon three, Scooby-doo in my opinion is the best cartoon ever. Four young adults and a Great Dane form the group that drives around in the Mystery Machine and solving cases and saving the day.

What drew me to Drop Dead Diva at first (this is going to sound bad) because they had an overweight actress in the lead role, but I got hooked quickly. Jane is a smart, hard-working, loyal, and strong person. She performs job well and is always there for her clients, and is not afraid to go that extra mile. She is there for her friends whenever they need her, and she tries to help wherever and whenever she can. She is learning to let go of her other life as Deb the model and is trying to make herself a wonderful new life as Jane, it takes a strong person to change who you are and to let something else in.

NCSI show leadership and teamwork. They can split up or all work together in one group. Gibbs the team leader supports his team and can even let them take the leadership role on occasion. They not only work together they are friends and are there for each other when one is going through a hard time. While doing all this they solve the case and keep everyone safe in the process.

Scooby-doo will forever be a favorite of mine. I watched this cartoon every Saturday morning, I wanted to be Daphne all dressed up in the purple outfits and running around with Fred. I still watch it today and it takes me right back to those Saturday mornings watching all my cartoons and eating my bowl of cereal. It would have been cool to be one of those meddling kids solving mysteries with Scooby-doo.
